This presentation clarifies how information systems contributions can be positioned in computational design science (CDS) research and discusses what types of CDS studies are more likely to withstand the review process at top-tier IS journals. Specifically, it distinguishes CDS research from closely related paradigms by situating it within the broader landscape of information systems scholarship. It then highlights key considerations in CDS research design. Finally, the presenter will draw on a published study to illustrate an effective approach for developing novel and defensible IS contributions through CDS research.

报告人简介：

Dr. Zhepeng (Lionel) Li is an associate professor of Information Systems in the IIM area at the Faculty of Business and Economics, The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on computational design science, with an emphasis on leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to address business and societal challenges. His work has been published in leading journals across disciplines, including Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and ACM Transactions. His studies have been supported by General Research Fund from the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong (GRF), Discovery Grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), General Program from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and industrial sponsors. He has received ISS design science research award of INFORMS. Lionel currently serves as an Associate Editor at MIS Quarterly, Vice President of College on AI at INFORMS, and Co-chair of Summer Workshop on AI for Business.
